It was the turn of the century. Bruce Jody (guitar, vocals) and Brandon Keith (drums) were cutting their musical jam band teeth with the SD based Phish tribute band Far Out Trout. Joining them on the journey was Electric Waste Band founding member, vocalist, saxophonist and flautist, Daniel Nielsen, and Smokey Hoof was born. A free form frothy fountain of eclectically crafted jam based originals flowed from this singular spigot of sound, with Bruce and Daniel trading lead vocals, a SoCal hommage to Bob and Jerry. But just as the music and scene grew, and a nascent “Hoofment” was expanding, nay exploding, a string of still unexplained keyboardist disappearances befell the band. “Veggie Powered Bus” Todd, Bassey “I will not be making he show tonight” Ekereke, “Vampire” Grant, “Touch the sky” Matt all left us far too soon. Then original bassist Joe “Big Toe” Felix left to pursue techno jam spaces

with Adam, our last keyboard player.

The Hoof was no more, but the Jam went On. And the entropic nature of Jam Music, soaring through space and time, itself becomes a fissile galaxy generator. From this incendiary interstellar incubator came the addition of multi-instrumentalists Jeff McGuire (Los Beautiful Beasts, S.U. Gretchen) and Dan “Greenie” Greenbaum (S.U. Gretchen) on bass and guitar, and on guitar and bass.

The joining of the jam band and the rock n roll worlds birthed a slew of super covers. Phish, Dead, Petty, VU, Stones, Talking Heads; And before they knew it, the band had a growing repertoire of covers-of Phish covers! What could be more meta than that. The Wolfman’s brother? The Wolfman’s brother? The Wolfman’s bro…No. The Wolfman’s Other Brother, that’s what.
